Job Summary

Sullivan County Memorial Hospital is seeking a professional, customer-oriented Admissions Clerk/Switchboard team member to ensure efficient patient registration, accurate documentation, high-quality communication, and exceptional customer service. This role handles switchboard operations, clerical responsibilities, cashiering duties, private pay follow-up, and must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Essential Job Functions

  • Register patients promptly and accurately, collect signatures, insurance details, co-pays, and required documentation
  • Perform switchboard duties with courteous and pleasant manner
  • Perform cashiering duties and maintain a balanced cash drawer
  • Responsible for sending clinic private pay statements
  • Primary Contact for accounts outsourced to Private Pay Billing Company
  • Compile an accurate patient census in EHR.
  • Individual must be detail orientated, can multi-tasks multiple duties at the same time, and experience in Excel software
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations, demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, punctuality, and respect for all patients and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting, talking, and computer use
  • Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, or reaching
  • Infrequent lifting of 50+ lbs
  • Ability to work near mechanical parts and in moderate to high noise levels
  • Good visual, auditory, and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in stressful environments

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
  • Prior healthcare or admissions experience preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills required
  • Bilingual ability a plus, but not required
