Position Summary
Sullivan County Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Analyst/Coder responsible for reviewing and coding medical records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper reimbursement. The ideal candidate has strong ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS knowledge, analytical skills, and a commitment to confidentiality.
Essential Job Functions
- Code inpatient, outpatient, and ER records using ICD-10-CM & CPT
- Review charts for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain 96% coding accuracy
- Ensure records are coded within 72 hours
- Work with providers to resolve missing documentation
- Support compliance, audits, and quality initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, talking, and computer use
- Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, or reaching
- Infrequent lifting of 50+ lbs
- Ability to work near mechanical parts and in moderate to high noise levels
- Good visual, auditory, and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in stressful environments
Minimum Qualifications
- RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CPC preferred
- 2+ years of coding experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM & CPT/HCPCS
- Detail-oriented with strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
