Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Patient Registration & Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for patient registration, appointment scheduling, switchboard operations, insurance verification, cashiering functions, and clerical support within the Business Office and Physician’s Clinic. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills while maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Essential Job Functions
- Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information
- Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records
- Answer and route incoming phone calls professionally
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, physicians, and staff
- Collect co-pays and process daily payments/cashiering duties
- Scan and maintain electronic patient documentation
- Support switchboard and emergency communication procedures
- Maintain organized filing systems and clerical workflows
- Assist with reports, office projects, and administrative duties
- Follow all HIPAA, confidentiality, and organizational policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, talking, and computer use
- Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, or reaching
- Infrequent lifting of 50+ lbs
- Ability to work near mechanical parts and in moderate to high noise levels
- Good visual, auditory, and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in stressful environments
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
- Prior healthcare or admissions experience preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills required
- Bilingual ability a plus, but not required
