Position Summary
Performs clinical laboratory testing in areas including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, immunohematology/blood bank, urinalysis, microbiology, and other laboratory services. Provides accurate and timely results to support patient diagnosis and treatment while maintaining quality, confidentiality, safety, and excellent customer service.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform laboratory testing on blood, urine, body fluids, and other patient specimens.
- Perform venipuncture and properly collect, process, and prepare specimens.
- Conduct chemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, urinalysis, and blood bank testing.
- Operate, maintain, and perform quality control on laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Document test results accurately and maintain required records.
- Prepare specimens and paperwork for reference laboratory testing.
- Respond to critical and stat testing needs, including on-call/callback responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Good vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work around blood, body fluids, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage occasional stress.
Minimum Qualifications
- MT/MLT certification or bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or related field
- Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred
- Proficiency in clinical laboratory testing and procedures
- Knowledge of chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, blood bank, and urinalysis
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality control
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
